To those sending hate-mail to this blog...

...please don't bother. The filthy language, the threats, and the anonymous sneers all get deleted as soon as they are opened. The sentiments aren't original, nor are the obscenities with which they are expressed.

HI, I did not see you on channel four news when it aired but did see you on EWTN the other evening interviewing a woman from the Association of Catholic Women, did not get her name as I tuned in half way but from that have ordered 400 of the laminated ID cards for catholic patients going into hospital will distribute them in the deanery. A sound idea indeed.

I may well have missed the EWTN programme if I had not googled you after the Channel Four news thingy! So I believe the phrase The Lord works in mysterious ways applies!

I suspect that the weight of unkind and nasty comments you have received and rightly rejected will be dwarfed by the prayers and good wishes from those who love the Holy Father and the Catholic Church.

God Bless

Blast the bloomin' lot of 'em Joanna. Put them all to flight by signing up to the 'Cuss-O-Meter'!!!

All the details on Fr.Tim's blog. Those kind folks will work out if there's too much nastiness or 'Cussin' going on and see those linguistically challenged morons off!

God Bless.

Oh Joanna, I am so sorry that you have been subjected to the venom of the unintelligent. I am sure that you wouldn't mind if someone expressed disagreement with your point of view in an intelligent manner because then you could have led them to see flaws in their argument and perhaps brought about a re-think. I never read the comments in online news articles about the Church because they are so dreadful.

You really have done something wonderful for the Catholic Church otherwise why would Satan emit such venom through his minions.
Just think all this suffering for the sake of Our Blessed Lord during this time of Lent must be earning you countless graces. You are in our prayers.
God Bless you and your work.

I didn't see the programme whilst it was being aired either - I caught it later and thought you did a marvellous job hitting the ground running in the defence of the timeless truths proclaimed by the Church.

The way that television "journalist" behaved was disgraceful.

You have my prayers.

Dear Joanna, God bless the good work you do for the church and for so many worthwhile Catholic causes. As someone who enjoys your blog very much may I suggest, respectfuly, that you inadvertently give the impression of being hostile towards particular groups in a way that might draw nasty reactions. For example - teenagers in low-slug jeans and bare, cubby midriffs. So what, when it's all said and done. Likewise, those of us who have had to face up to the fact that our children are homosexual and serving in the armed forces, and we love them regardless even if we do live in fear of AIDS. Of course celibacy is the wisest option in such cases, but if that is not to be then harm minimisation has to be the second line of defence, at least until they see the error of their ways. Condoms are not fully safe, but they can reduce the chances of infection if used correctly and consistently. As good priests say so often in the Confessional, "Your must do your best". Also, in arguing that the Tridentine Catholics have something to apologise for (I greatly admire Benedict XVI for welcoming them into the fold) perhaps it should also be acknowledged that their basic case about the novus order weakening the theology of the mass had merit. After all, our Holy Father himself prefers the theological richness of the Extraordinary rite in his daily Mass. Hopefully he will also be able to quietly reunite us with the Eastern Orthodox churches as well. In this he is a visionary. It would be good to see some more thoughtful debates in the reactions to the points your make on your blog (and others like it). Unforunately, reactions mainly seem to alternative between lavish praise and bitter opposition. God bless, Rose Wilson

I tried to leave a comment as soon as that interview had appeared, but couldn't get this thing to work.
I want to tell you that I thought you were magnificent and I would have reacted in exactly the same way that you did. I've watched the clip several times and am now convinced that Jon Snow and the Christian Aid woman had planned it all beforehand. The way that woman remained SMUGLY calm just wasn't natural.
Never mind, Joanna!!!!! You did a great job and we are all praying mightily for our terrific Holy Father all the time.
With love from Mary [Clare's friend]
