Terrific rain...

...is hurtling down on London and its suburbs this Bank Holiday Monday. I know we're meant to be annoyed, but I'm not. It's clattering., splashing, noisy, soaking, neccessary, natural rain...water from heaven, crucial for life. And it matches our mood. Rain and tears, water and sorrow...another stabbing to mourn, another boy killed in a London street, another family grieving. Read this comment which is apt and to the point. There's something so ghastly about the destruction of ordinary values in our country at the moment, and the apparent impossibility of getting the authorities even to talk about it except in the most loathesome jargon and pointless political slogans.

I don't think that's fair Joanna. The Tories are now talking very seriously about social breakdown. It is inevitable that there will be a change in opinion.

However as I said in my last comment, we shouldn't mistake swings between laxity and rigour, which always happen, for the debate going the right way. Morally rigorous people can be as far from the Church as lax ones.

If God is weeping for this nation, it would come as no surprise, for the land is polluted and the government corrupted. They have scant regard for history, tradition or the sanctity of human life. It is incumbent upon Christians to pray with discernment and to vote wisely:

Righteousness exalts a nation.

Blair's legacy since 1997 it's been spiritually and morally downhill faster than at any time in the last 200 years!
